Novo Sancti Petri, with a total size of almost 400 hectar, is situated next to the fantastic beach La Barrosa at the Costa de la Luz. It's part of the community of Chiclana, the old town at the end of the wine-route connecting all the sherry producing towns of the region.

9km of beautiful beach right in the heart of Andalusia , with its Bodegas, Flamenco, the bulls and horses, the white villages and natural parks. The mild climate of this region makes Novo Sancti Petri an ideal travel destination for the entire family. 

Novo Sancti Petri is situated 25km south of Cadiz. Popular neighbouring towns are Conil de la Frontera, a little fishing town, and Vejer de la Frontera, one of the typical white villages.

This is definitely one of the holiday resorts of higher standard at the Costa de la Luz. Exclusive villas and chalets, as well as holiday apartments with large garden areas are surrouding a superb 36 hole golf course designed by Severiano Ballesteros.  Some great 4- and 5-star hotels can be found in the first line of the beach.

The building law avoids that buildings with more than 2 storeys could be constructed. That's why Novo Sancti Petri is not spoiled with huge and ugly concrete hotel blocks.

In the center of Novo Sancti Petri a large shopping center with many little shops, bars and restaurants has opened up. But the nicest restaurants are situated along the beach promenade.

Novo Sancti Petri is connected with bike roads, so you can leave your car parked in the garage most of the time. Bikes can be rented here.

Novo Sancti Petri attracts mostly young people in the summer months, when some great nightlife adds an extra flavour to this place.

The evening starts in the beach bars of Playa Barrosa, which stay open til late at night. Later, the clubs get really crowded with people dancing the rest of the night away.

The choice of good restaurants in Novo Sancti Petri is big. Besides the excellent fish restaurants in the urbanisation, many of the best addresses are situated directly on the beach.

Fresh fish from the region is always recommendable, but also the ham specialities, beef from Andalusia and vegetables should be tried.

The wine menus in most restaurants are well put together. Novo Sancti Petri is forming the southern end of the wine-route, which connects all the sherry producing villages in this part of Andalusia. Try the Fino or the Manzanilla, a Moscatel for dessert.

A brand new shopping center with many little shops, bars and restaurants has opened in the center of this holiday resort. No need to go shopping in several different places, as you will find everything in this center.

The beaches of Novo Sancti Petri

Playa La Barrosa

The beach Playa la Barrosa is located about 6km from the center of Novo Sancti Petri. It is about 7km long and up to 60m wide and considered to be one of the nicest beaches all over Spain. La Barrosa has been awarded with the "blue flag", an award for excellent environmental management, cleanliness of beach and water and the infrastructure of offered services.

In July and August this beach is the best visited of the entire Costa de la Luz, but due to its size it never feels overcrowded. Close by the beach promenade with many bars and restaurants, the majority of holiday accommodations are being offered.

Playa Novo Sancti Petri

The beach Playa Novo Sancti Petri is the extension of the Playa Barrosa continuing until Conil de la Frontera. This beach is a lot less crowded and attracts with its natural originality. Dunes, cliffs, pine woods and cork oaks decorate the background.

Bike roads connect the entire area of Novo Sancti Petri, so you can leave the car in the garage and rent a bike here.

Climate & weather in Novo Sancti Petri

While temperatures in the summer at the Andalusian coast are comfortably warm, it may be unbearably hot just 20km further in the country. Seville, for example, is used to have above 40°C every day while on the coast you only feel 25°C.

In winter time it hardly gets any colder than 16°C, except for the nights which could end up being around 10°C. The temperatures also depend on the wind direction: Levante brings warmer air from the land, Poniente brings cool air form the sea.

The average humidity in summer is around 30%, in the winter it is above 50%.

The probability of rain is very low apart from January til April. Statistically the Costa de la Luz provides more than 300 days of sunshine per year. In fact, rain is always welcome to assure the water supply in summer.
